22 – Barton’s 1792 Bourbon Prize Flight

Barton's 1792 Bourbon Prize Flight
  • 1792, Bottled in Bond (100), Yellow Label
  • 1792, Full Proof (125), Black Label
  • 1792, Single Barrel (98.6), Cream Label
  • 1792, Small Batch (93.7), Burgundy Label
  • 1792, Aged Twelve Years (96.6), Gray Label
  • 1792, Sweet Wheat (91.2), Brown Label

Barton’s 1792 Bourbon has a saying, “Goes well with ambition.” This collection of limited-edition expressions actually goes well with everything. The burgundy label 1792 Small Batch was their original rye bourbon offering, with four later expressions demonstrating elegant variations on aging and proofing, and then 1792 Sweet Wheat venturing into a wheated bourbon mash bill. 1792 honors the year of Kentucky’s statehood and these bourbons honor the oldest working distillery in Bardstown.

Every one of these expressions is a multi-award winner. However, 1792 Full Proof is the heaviest hitter in this bottle collection, bottled at 125 proof. This is a legal barrel entry for aging bourbon and, in this case, finishing it. It’s also non-chill filtered, only passing through a plate and frame filter. It’s got the heat but maintains a smooth profile for sipping.
